Aion gets a new producer – what happened to the old?

Pictured to the right is Chris “Kinslon” Hager, the new producer for Aion West. He was previously an associate producer when Aion launched and has been with NCSoft West since 2005. We, at Aion Life, congratulate Chris on his new appointment and wish he keeps Aion going even stronger in this new year. He had this to say about his promotion (source):

“I’m really excited about Aion and the direction for the upcoming year. Last year was a massive undertaking getting Aion launched, and this year we are really going to focus on making sure we are communicating effectively with the community, giving players the best experience possible, and are looking forward to some exciting new things coming up this year with updates and events.”

You can check out Chris’ linkedin page for all of his credentials.

There have been questions about what happened to the previous producer – Brian Knox. His departure was never talked about in public. Seems that Brian left in November to an unannounced company to become a senior producer (according to his linkedin page). Brian was one of the major driving forces behind the Aion launch hype machine (along with Lani) and the last thing he had to say to the Aion population he partook in making was:

“Welcome to the team @aion_tamat !!” (his last Tweet on Twitter).

There is speculation that the severed hand Chris Hager is holding in the above picture might have something to do with Brian’s “disappearance”. Neither of them were available for comment :P .

How to change armor or weapon type in Aion

Apparently, we’re always looking for drops with better stats, but when we finally get them, it usually turns out to be of wrong armor or weapon type. Aion designers have provided a remarkable option that can solve this problem.

Armor Exchange

If you want to change your armor type you have to buy Daevanion’s Light for ~59,400 kinah. For Elyos go to Sanctum and buy it from divine accessory vendor Ophenes or Perena. For Asmodians, divine accessory vendors Gerad and Olda are located in Pandaemonium.

Your next destination is also in Sanctum (Pandaemonium) – inside the Training District (the area with all class trainers for lvl 1-25). There are two Priests next to the High Priest:
Sibylla, Armor exchange Priest and Aithra, Weapon exchange Priest,
(for Asmodians Narvi, Armor exchange Priest and Bor, Weapon exchange Priest).

Talk to Sibylla (Narvi for Asmodians) and she will give you an option to Exchange Regular Daevanion Armor. This is the exchange process and you will be asked which type and piece of armor you want to exchange.

Weapon Exchange

If you’re looking to exchange a weapon, the weapon NPC is in the same room, and you also need Daevanion’s Light for exchange process. Talk to Aithra (Bor for Asmodians), next to the High Priest, and she will give you an option to exchange Regular Daevanion Weapon. You will be asked which kind of weapon you have for exchange (magical or physical weapon) and what sub-type of weapon specifically (sword, greatsword, staff, polearm, etc.). You can also exchange a shield here.

How to fall and not die in Aion

One of the most exciting features in Aion is flying. Unfortunately the same feature is usually the cause of XP loss. If you fly too high the wings on your minimap will turn purple which indicates that you will not survive the fall. When the wings are blue you will land safely (The image above demonstrates the wing color difference).

If your flight timer runs out while your wings are purple, don’t try to fly or to glide again before you are very close to the ground. These few seconds while falling down will be enough to get few flight ability seconds and you will be able to spread your wings just before you hit the ground and survive the fall.

Aion Auction House tips

With the latest patch notes 1.5.1.7 the main Auction House search frustration has disappeared – searching items in the Auction House is no longer case sensitive! Before heading to the Trade Broker here are some tips you should be aware of:

  • Shugo trade brokers can be found in every major town.
  • You can access auction items by clicking on the Auction Broker or by pressing C on your keyboard. There are three main tabs on the broker window: Buy, Sell and Sold Items.
  • Whether you are buying or selling items, the first thing you should do is check prices at any general merchant, because you don’t want to sell bellow merchant prices.
  • Search result items can be sorted by name, level, price or by unit price (when you are selling a stack of items).
  • The search function will only search your currently selected category and sub-categories. It will apply this filter until you reset it.
  • If you want to check the price of an item you already have in your inventory, you don’t have to type the full item name. Open the Auction window- Buy tab, then simply Right Click the item in your inventory and the complete item name will show up in the search bar.
  • If you want to split your item stack hold down Shift button + Right Click on the stack you want to split and then specify an amount you want to sell.
