Patch 2.7 Goes Live Soon and Korean Patch 3.0 Rumored

The official date for the release of patch 2.7 has been announced and it is October 19th, 2011. As you probably know the biggest changes introduced to the game with this patch are the new PvP Crucible Arenas and new Tier 2 conditioning weapons and armors. If PvP is not your thing (you should be playing another game :P ) there is also a large-scale, 48-person instanced boss fight in Padmarashka’s Cave for those seeking an epic boss encounter. The test servers will be updated with the new patch on October 13th if you want an early preview.

At the same time there is a rumor started by a Russian forum post that Patch 3.0 will hit the Korean servers in early November. IT is said that housing and mounts, as well as new skills and other still unannounced features will be presented in this patch. We’ll update you as more information becomes available.

Aion Second Anniversary

To celebrate the anniversary of Aion’s launch in North America and Europe, the Aion Production Team has come up with a host of events to commemorate the occasion from September 22nd, 2011 to October 1st, 2011! A 10 day Reactivation Celebration, beginning at 8:00 AM PDT on Thursday, September 22, 2011 and running until 8:00 AM PDT on Sunday, October 2nd, 2011.

During the Reactivation Celebration players will also enjoy:

  • The ‘For War and Glory’ AP Event, which increases the amount of AP gained from defeating monsters in the Abyss and Silentera Canyon, and reduces the amount of AP lost from dying in Player versus Player combat in the Abyss and Silentera Canyon (9/21 – 9/28)!
  • The ‘Behind Enemy Lines’ Rifting Event, which removes the defensive buffs in Heiron and Beluslan (9/28 – 10/5)!
  • The ‘Increased XP Event’, which increases the amount of experience players gain from slaying monsters (9/21 – 10/5)!
  • The ‘Increased Drop Rates Event’, which increases the drop rates of loot from all monsters, including Boss Monsters and Named Monsters (9/21 – 10/5)!
  • The ‘Picking Up the Past’ Community Event! Researchers from Elysea and Asmodae have undertaken a bold new project—cataloguing Atreia’s history in a new Natural History Museum! Collect Fossils by defeating monsters and bosses, and trade those Fossils in for clothing, medals, and gift boxes (9/7 – 10/5)!
  • The ‘Ascension Festival’ Anniversary Event! During this time each year, all of Atreia gathers to remember the ascension of the first human Daevas, and to praise Aion’s blessings. Collect Ascension Energy while adventuring throughout Atreia, and trade it in for costumes, hats, and gift boxes (9/21 – 10/26)!

100% Manastone Socketing for Real Money

There is an interesting article on Aion Source discussing the effects of the cash shop on the game that already has a subscription like Aion does. This has been a hot topic ever since the cash shop was announced. As long as items you can purchase in the shop will not give a clear advantage over other players (ie. the items bought are of cosmetic nature or there are similar items available in-game) people were pretty much OK with it. Recently more and more items are appearing in the shop, auto looting warg pet being the latest.

It appears now that the next item that will appear in the shop is a socketing supplement that will help you socket a manastone with 100% chance of success. As most of you know the manastone system is very unnerving with its chance of failure. Those that are willing to give some real life cash will be spared the suffering of a failed manastone socketing attempt. You can read Aion Nyx’s announcement of this on Aion Source forums. Here’s a snippet:

Yes, it is true that we will be running a promotion in late September to sell the supplements. These items are already sold in Korea on their store, and I believe there may be some other territories already selling them as well. They were designed by Korea specifically to be a cash item.

They will be offered on a limited time basis, and then we will evaluate whether they are items that we want to offer permanently based on player feedback and sales. Since we are having a positive, happy thread currently let’s not start the discussion of whether these are appropriate to be sold in this thread. If you want to express opinions either for or against that, I request that you not use the vet rewards thread for that debate.
